Setting Goals & Goal Realization
Maintain
a Healthy Lifestyle
and Achieve Your Goals
Have you established goals for your life?
If so, good for you! But, did you know that your level of personal
fitness could have an impact on whether or not you meet these
goals? It’s true! The better fit you are, the greater your
chances of being able to overcome obstacles and stick with
your plans for your goal.
The Fit Body
A fit body doesn’t need to look like a supermodel’s body.
In fact, many supermodels are not actually fit, but underweight.
Rather, a fit body is a healthy body. To be healthy, you need
to eat balanced meals and provide your body with vitamins and
minerals as recommended by the FDA. This means including plenty
of fruits and vegetables in your diet.
In addition to eating a proper diet, you need to get regular
exercise in order to maintain a fit body. Once again, you don’t
need to be the next champion body builder or a cross-country
track star in order to have a fit body. You do, however, need
to get regular exercise that includes working out the muscles
and the cardiovascular system, as well as stretching exercises.
At the very least, you should engage in an exercise routine
three days per week for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time in
order to notice the effects of exercise.
The Benefits of a Proper Diet
Maintaining a proper diet can help you in many ways when it
comes to reaching your goals. First of all, a poor diet is
the main reason for experiencing a lack of energy. Too many
sugars and fats, in fact, can further drain the body. Even
if you are not carrying around extra weight, an improper diet
can cause you to feel drained and tired. If you are overweight,
as well, you will feel even more tired as you drag around those
extra pounds.
A well balanced diet also helps keep all of your body’s systems
working correctly. This includes your immune system. With your
immune system working at its optimum ability, it will be able
to better fend off illness. Coming down with an illness or
a diet-related disease, such as diabetes, can through off your
plans indefinitely.
In addition, certain vitamins in the diet, such as B-complex,
help to relieve stress. Since working toward a goal can be
stress inducing hard work, you need all the help you can get
in coping with the stress. Being able to deal with the stress
will make you less likely to give up when you run into problems
along the way.
The Benefits of Exercises
Exercising also helps keep your body healthy and better able
to fend off illness. In addition, it helps keep your metabolism
up, which provides you with energy and helps burn off unwanted
weight.
Exercise is also a great stress reducer. Research has shown
that exercise releases “feel good” hormones. Avid runners refer
to this feeling as a “runner’s high.” Therefore, exercise can
be used to help maintain a happier feeling, or it can be used
in times of stressful situations in order to relieve the pent
up stress and anger.
Staying Away from Unhealthy Habits
In addition to maintaining a proper diet and getting exercise,
it is important to stay away from unhealthy habits such as
smoking and drinking. Alcohol is a depressant, which means
it slows the body down. Therefore, it only serves to slow you
down on your way toward reaching your goal. It can also lead
to spiraling feelings of depression. This can lead to an addiction
as you drink more in order to forget about the stress you are
experiencing. This is a risk you cannot take as you reach for
your goals.
Nicotine is a stimulant, but after the stimulatory effects
have worn off, you experience a crash that makes you feel tired.
Smoking affects your circulatory system, making it more difficult
for the blood to flow through your body. This adds to the tired
feelings and slows you down. Of course, nicotine is also addictive
and difficult to overcome. Furthermore, both alcohol and cigarettes
are expensive – and you could probably use the money to help
you work toward achieving your goal.
While it is not absolutely necessary to be fit in order to
reach your goals, it makes it much easier and improves your
chances. And, you will feel good while doing it!
