Setting Goals & Goal Realization

Goal Realization: Corporate Team Building

Corporations use goals to motivate their employees, board members, and officers all of the time. Setting goals as a company and having individuals within the company set goals is very important in the successful growth and management of a corporation. We cannot overemphasize the importance of goal realization within a corporation. Realizing a goal brings a feeling of fulfillment to oneself. Either way, we can choose to be one of the following, a goal achiever, a failure, or an in-between. Corporations consisting of individuals that are goal achievers are much more likely to grow successfully compared to a corporation made up of individuals that are failures and in-betweens.

Setting corporate goals is a difficult task, but to say that it is reserved only for the lucky and affluent corporations is wrong. This is nothing but and excuse. Actually, they are not being respectful to their corporation if you think this way. They just keep on drifting life away like a piece of driftwood out at sea. They keep on concentrating on their routines and activities and they tend to forget about, set aside, or even ignore their goals as a company. This kind of thinking has something to do with their attitude and this is the attitude they need to change throughout our corporations. People have to adopt a goal-oriented attitude. People have to get out of their comfort zone and venture into the corporate world out there by leading an active role in the company’s future. This will bring happiness not only to themselves but to the entire staff as well. Everyone is apprehensive of change but this is one change for the better and it will be worth a hundred, maybe a thousand folds over.

Do not overemphasize the importance of time when it comes to goal realization for your corporation. Each day, week, or month’s delay may mean lost opportunities and this might destroy or offset the timeframe you set to reach the goal. Though there is no specific or particular due date for goal achievement, one must not treat goal attainment as if it were unimportant. Give it full attention, effort, and energy and the rewards will come to everyone involved, probably more than you expect. There may be instances of delays that unavoidable. Be sure to give it a great deal of thought and use all means possible to minimize each delay. If delays are unavoidable, then you must let it take its course, but under no circumstances must procrastination take its place in your pursuit.

You all know that time is gold. Spending time to pursue your goal is time well invested. Even if after spending most of the time to goal attainment and you haven’t cultivated it, you can become history. You can pass on to the next generation, your experiences that will serve as lessons for them. In fact, this will save time for your successors to continue your pursuit. You can divide an organization into two groups, management and subordinates. The respective goals of these two groups and the result of achieving the goals of the organization , management tends to be compatible with the goals of the organization but are not exactly the same. On the other hand, the goals of the subordinates are almost at odds with those of the organization. The result of the interaction between the goals of management and the goals of subordinates is a compromise, and actual performance is a combination of both. In some situations, there seems to be a general disregard for the welfare of the organization. Both managers and workers see their own goals conflicting with those of the organization. Consequently, both morale and performance will tend to be low and organizational accomplishment will be negligible. Many organizations are going out of business every day for these very reasons.

The hope in an organization is to create a climate in which one of two things occurs. The individuals in the organization, both managers and subordinates, either perceive their goals as being the same as the goals of the organization or, although different, see their own goals being satisfied as a direct result of working for the goals of the organization. Consequently, the closer we can get the individual’s goals and objectives to the organization’s goals, the greater will be the organizational performance. One of the ways in which effective leaders bridge the gap between the individual’s and the organization’s goals is by creating a loyalty to themselves among their followers. They do this by being an influential spokesperson for followers with higher management. These leaders have no difficulty in communicating organizational goals to followers and these people do not find it difficult to associate the acceptance of these goals with accomplishment of their own need satisfaction.
