Management When Money Is Short
When it comes to stress from money problems,
it’s important not to ignore your issues. Stress can cause
problems with your health and your relationships. It can also
make it difficult to get back on your feet when stress gets
out of control.
For money stress, you’ll need to address
the problem in two ways. First you want to take control of your finances and work
to actively improve your money situation. Second, you’ll want
to directly address the physical and mental symptoms from stress.
The first part of your plan should include ways to bring money
into your household and ways that you can cut expenses. There
are several strategies that will really improve the way you
manage your finances. And simply taking control will reduce
your stress a great deal.
The first thing you should do is track
your expenses. Write
down everything you spend for two weeks to a month. Then you
can look at where your money is actually going. Even if you
spend fifty cents on something, write it down.
As you go through your log, you’ll see where you’ve spent
money on things you really didn’t need. You can also reduce
your expenses by cancelling magazine subscriptions, cable subscriptions,
and reducing your cell phone plan to accommodate a smaller
budget.
Planting
a garden can also help cut down on expenses from
grocery items. The average garden will return 25 times the
amount of money you spend to create and manage it. That means
if you spend $100 on your garden, you’ll grow about $2500 worth
of produce. That can save your family quite a bit of money
on your food budget.
It’s
also important to consider ways you can bring more income
into your household. You may want to take on a part-time job
to enhance what you make. Business opportunities such as internet
marketing or affiliate
programs can provide income streams
that can be made by working at home. And when you work from
home,
you
also
save
money on
fuel and other transportation costs.
You may also want to take some time to improve your job skills
with classes and training workshops. Enhancing your education
can help you to make more money at your current job or prepare
you for a better paying career.
When money stress can’t be resolved immediately, it’s important
to use stress management techniques such as exercise, meditation,
stretching, and deep breathing to help combat the pressure
you’re feeling. You can also work on a hobby you enjoy or even
relax by taking a hot bath, reading a good book, and just taking
a break from the stress of your life.
