My Lack Of Cash Is Freakin' Me Out!
How
To Cope With Stress When Money Concerns Begin to Grow
Coping with stress can be difficult no matter
what it is that’s giving you grief. But money concerns can
be some of the hardest to overcome. If you’re going through
some type of financial crisis, you need to learn some coping
skills so that you won’t be overwhelmed by the feelings that
often come with financial difficulties.
Learning a few things you can do to help relieve stress can
help you to cope with your money concerns until you can solve
the problem more permanently. First, you may want to talk about
your problems with a trusted friend or family member.
Anyone you feel you can share your problems with will work.
Even if you don’t solve your problems, you’ll relieve some
of the stress that’s mounting. However, talking to a friend
can often help you to come up with solutions you might not
have thought of on your own.
Keep
your schedule consistent. Sometimes stress causes you
to stay up later than usual and miss sleep. It can also cause
you to have irregular sleep patterns like sleeping all day
to avoid stress.
It’s important when you’re going through a tough time that
you keep your schedule consistent. Go to bed at a decent hour
and get up about eight hours later. Resist the urge to sleep
too much.
Prepare
to take action. For many people, stress can feel so
overwhelming that it makes it difficult to really address the
problem. Get out a piece of paper, make a list of your problems
and possible solutions, and then take action. This is the best
way to relieve problems before they get worse.
Don’t
be afraid to express emotions. For many people stress
causes feelings of anger or sadness. If you need to have a
good cry, just do it. Give yourself permission to feel your
emotions and then you can pick yourself up and keep going.
Face
your problems. When you’re overwhelmed by stress, it
may seem easier just to forget about it and do something else.
And while that may make you feel better in the short-term,
it allows your problems to continue to grow.
Instead, take action so that you can resolve your situation
instead of waiting for it to get even bigger. Stress coping
is an important skill. When you’re able to deal with the things
in your life that are causing problems, you’ll have a happier,
healthier life.
