Chronic
Stress Symptoms From This Bad Economy
Stress can be a good thing. When you feel
it in short bursts it can help you to handle emergencies and
cope with crises. However, the current economy creates
chronic stress symptoms for some people and these can be dangerous
for the body. Stress can adversely affect the body when it’s
felt over a long period of time.
Your body reacts the same to psychological stress as it does
to physical stress. So whether you’re suffering from a traumatic
injury or dealing with the current economy, your body will
handle stress the same way. And the body isn’t really prepared
to deal with stress on a long-term basis. That’s when stress
can become a health problem – and can even become deadly.
If you suffer from chronic stress, you can have several kinds
of problems. For example, you could suffer from chronic pain
like headaches, backaches, and even joint pain. You may also
discover that you have difficulty sleeping at night.
When all you want is a good night’s sleep you end up tossing
and turning. If you’ve noticed that you’re putting on a few
extra pounds, stress may also be the culprit. Stress hormones
cause the body to store more fat in the midsection and people
often react to stress by eating more calories.
For some people stress manifests physically in the form of
skin conditions such as eczema or hives. If you’re breaking
out and can’t figure out why, stress may be to blame. You may
also be having problems with diarrhea, constipation, or even
just indigestion.
Stress can cause these symptoms as well. More seriously, chronic
stress can cause autoimmune problems such as chronic fatigue
syndrome. It can also lead to increased blood pressure and
heart disease.
Finally, depression may result from chronic stress. You may
find that you feel hopeless or helpless. These feelings mean
that something is wrong and you may need some professional
help.
The current economy creates chronic stress symptoms for many
people. It’s important to recognize that you’re not alone.
There’s help available to reduce your stress levels and improve
your health.
You may feel relief by simply talking to a friend. But in
more moderate to severe cases it will be important for you
to talk to a professional. The longer you go without addressing
your stress, the more likely you’ll be to suffer long-term
health problems. You need to do your best to stop stress in
its tracks.
