I Have An Urge To Get Organized
How
To Create Harmonious, Peaceful Space By Organizing
De-cluttering and organizing your surroundings
can result in a host of physical and mental benefits, but you
may be surprised to know the ways it can also give a boost
to your spiritual practice also.
First, the
act of de-cluttering, cleaning and organizing is very freeing. It is very much an exercise in “load lightening.”
With each unnecessary item that is released from your life,
you feel a little bit lighter and freer.
Even more importantly, once the de-cluttering and organizing
is done, you are left with a harmonious, peaceful space in
which you can better connect with your inner self. All the
external chatter and chaos has been removed, and this enables
you to better hear your inner voice.
Think of your surroundings as a direct reflection of what
is happening within you. When you feel chaotic and confused
mentally or emotionally, or disconnected spiritually, your
actions will reflect this in your surroundings. You may not
give full attention to keeping your home or workspace neat
and orderly.
It works the other way too! Just as your inner state can affect
your surroundings, the environment in which you spend most
of your time can influence your thoughts and feelings. If you
are surrounded by clutter and disharmony in your outer world,
it must also create confusion and disharmony within you.
Therefore, when you clear your outer space, you are also clearing
your inner space!
This is an important insight because when you understand how
this works, you can use the knowledge to consciously create
the type of environment that will support your intentions.
The big questions are: What are your intentions? What type
of environment will support them? What do you want more of?
Once you know the answers to these questions, create a space
for the qualities and essence you want, and invite them in!
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
If you want to create stronger creative inspiration in your
daily life, start by clearing out old creative projects to
make room for new ones. Get rid of old projects that you don’t
want to finish, and throw away old art supplies that are no
longer usable. Purchase new supplies in whatever medium you
wish to explore, and then create a sacred physical space in
which to engage your creativity.
If you yearn for a deeper spiritual connection, clear a space
in a quiet corner of your home and place a small table and
a few cushions on the floor. Buy a new meditation candle, a
book of inspiration and a pretty blank journal. Sit in your
new sacred space daily, reading, writing, and letting the soothing
environment stimulate and awaken your higher self.
To call in greater prosperity, create a “wealth sector” in
your home. Clear out a small area and place a table and cushions
on the floor, as described above. Fill a small jar with coins
or dollar bills, and add a bowl of fresh flowers or fruit on
the table. Spend time each day writing prosperity affirmations
and inviting greater abundance into your life.
There are endless possibilities for inviting more abundance,
love, peace, harmony, joy, or any other quality into your life.
Simply set a clear intention about the essence or quality you
want, create a space for it, and invite it in.
You do not need to follow any complex rituals to do this.
You can either write out your intentions or speak them aloud
as you clear your space by stating with confidence that you
are creating a space for more “__________” to enter your life.
With such an attractive invitation and a place of honor being
provided for it, how could it refuse?
