I Want To Get
Rid Of My Debt...NOW!
Consider
This Before You Get a Credit Card
In this day and age of consumer delights,
many tempting things can be found left and right. With malls
and other establishments found in every city is every state
in every country in the world, it is safe to say that our yearnings
have far surpassed our purchasing power. And what are we to
do when those new gadgets are introduced, or our favorite author
has published a new book, when we’ve all but spent our month’s
salary?
This dilemma has resulted in the massive popularity of credit
cards today. These credit cards, called plastic money by some
sectors, would allow you to purchase an item via a credit system,
with the corresponding liability to pay for it later on with
minimal interest as applicable charges. The additional rates
aside, credit cards have been widely embraced by the population
because of the sheer convenience and empowerment they provide.
No longer will you be limited to your cash at hand. You can
now buy and pay for different things with the option to pay
for them later on.
The Plague Of Credit Cards
But liberty, as it always does, comes with a price. Credit
cards may give us the ability to work around our current budget
constraints, but it also makes us susceptible to uncontrolled
spending. This brings a world of possible concerns.
If we get way behind our credit card payments, we stand to
tarnish our credit history. Additionally, in our efforts to
answer our credit card debts, we would tend to compromise our
other financial demands. We will fail to pay our bills on time,
if at all. And this would add more tarnish on our credit history.
Aside from the revocation of our credit card, we
have to bear in mind the consequences of a less than perfect
credit history. Our credit history is used by creditors when acting on our
applications for a loan. If our credit history reflects a bad
record, we will have a very difficult time securing loans for
that house we want, for that car we need, and for the education
of our kids. And if lady luck happens to shower is with her
grace and we are granted a loan, it will come with a high interest
as we will be considered as a risky investment.
Also, most employers today rely on our credit history in studying
our applications. For them, our credit history is a measure
of our financial responsibility. A bad credit history might
cost us that job of our dreams.
Should You Get A Credit Card?
Getting a credit card can be a life changing decision, and
that is not an exaggeration. And it could go either way, as
well. Either it would be one of the best decisions you could
ever make, or one of the worst that you would regret taking.
Owning a credit card line means added responsibilities on
your part. Not only will you have to continue taking care of
your usual bills and payments, you would also be assuming a
new set of fees to answer to.
These
charges are within your control, however. But again, responsibility
and caution should be practices. It is easier
to spend if you are not restricted by the cash you have at
hand. You should muster the willpower to resist this urge,
and you should gather enough wisdom to look ahead. The
things you will purchase today would haunt you tomorrow, as you will
still have to pay for them. Owning a credit card doesn’t mean
you could spend away, it just means that you could buy things
that you should pay later on.
I you believe that you are financially responsible enough
so as not to compromise your good credit history, then by all
means, get a credit card today. It would bring for you a world
of convenience and liberty.
Otherwise, stick with real money. It would be the safer route
to take.
