Synopsis
Contrary to many things said about hypnosis,
it is actually the practice of auto-suggestion.
Hypnosis is proven to be able to treat several
ills and habits ranging from smoking to impotence.
This book is an easy-to-follow guide on how
readers can practice hypnosis on themselves
and others, or as a tool to resolve physical
and emotional problems. The writer is renowned
within the psychologist and hypnotherapist
environment.
From the Author
Hypnosis is the original mind/body medicine.
It can help you change your life and reach
your goals. The Complete Idiot's Guide to
Hypnosis is not for idiots. It is for you
if you are curious about ways to improve your
golf game or ways to speed through surgery.
You can learn to love brocolli and hate chocolate,
or you can learn to overcome shyness and enjoy
public speaking. This book tells exactly how
to use hypnosis for your advantage -- you
can change your life!
From the Inside Flap
Hypnosis is safe, easy, and effective. You
can use it to have a better life. Hypnosis
uses the power of words to create change.
You can change a habit, an attitude, a physical
symptom. Throughout the hypnotic experience
you are in control of yourself; you are in
charge of yourself.
The
Complete Idiots Guide to Hypnosis explains
hypnosis to you and prepares you to be an
informed consumer of hypnosis. You'll learn
how to choose a reliable hypnotist and how
to spot a phony.
From the Back Cover
You're no idiot, of course. You know that
hypnotist entertainers can hypnotize audience
members and make them cluck like chickens
and bark like dogs. But when it comes to understanding
how you can improve your health and well-being
from hypnosis, you start to feel v-e-r-r-y
s-l-e-e-p-y. Don't nod off yet, get hypnotized!
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hypnosis, written
by noted psychologist and hypnotherapist Dr.
Roberta Temes, shows you how to responsibly
use hypnosis to improve your quality of life.
About the Author
Dr. Roberta Temes is on the faculty of Downstate
Medical School in Brooklyn, New York, and
has had a private practice in hypnosis since
the 1970's. She gets folks to stop smoking
in just one session and lectures about hypnosis
throughout the world. Dr. Temes is the author
of the first medical school textbook about
hypnosis.

Fifty years ago hypnotists were entertainers
who persuaded your Uncle Bill to quack like
a duck in a night club. One hundred years
ago hypnotists were called charlatans, and
during the Middle Ages a hypnotist was considered
a witch.
Today's
hypnotist is likely to be a physician, a psychololgist,
a university researcher, or a nurse, and to
be employed in the emergency room of Jefferson
Hospital in Louisiana, at the figure skating
pavilion in the Olympics, or at the local
weight control center. Today, hypnosis is
a respected technique.
While
it's a serious therapeutic technique, hypnosis
is also a pleasant and calming experience,
and you'll be delighted when you realize that
it can help you transform yourself...
