Asthma Causes, Triggers & Treatments
Are
There Any Natural Treatments For Asthma Sufferers?
While it may be acknowledged that looking
into alternative and natural solutions for health problems
can work over all to strengthen and support the immune system
there are some disorders that need the direct health care and
guidance of a doctor. Asthma is one of those diseases that
should receive the professional guidance of someone who can
accurately diagnose not only the disease but exactly how severely
it may be affecting the body internally.
Ideally it is hoped that through open and reasonable communication
that any professional health care provider will work in coordination
with their patients to find the optimum solution to their health
issues. With that in mind there are a number of suggestions
of a natural source that have been used to improve the quality
of life for asthma sufferers.
Studies have found that groups of people who eat Vitamin
C rich foods such as fresh fruits fare better. Also important
is a diet that is balanced higher in protein, lower
in carbohydrates and very
little sugar. Fresh vegetables along with such nutritious
items such as nuts,(if there are no allergies there) seeds,
oatmeal, brown rice and whole grains help round out the diet.
Including foods that contain quercetin and mustard oils, such
as garlic and onions seem to work to inhibit a particular enzyme
that works to release inflammatory chemicals in the body.
Mullein
oil is sometimes used as a powerful and effective
remedy that relieves bronchial congestion. It appears to stop
coughs and works to unclog the bronchial tubes. Some asthma
sufferers have reported that when they use it in fruit juice
or tea that they get an almost immediate relief.
Drinking three cups of pau
d'arco tea daily can help to reduce
inflammation and work as a natural antibiotic.
Extract
of lobelia can help to soothe and relax the bronchial
muscles and the irritations that can bring on coughing. A Chinese
herbal formula called ClearLungs has been used by some to help
reduce inflammation and mucus which can help to keep the air
passages clear and assist in easier breathing. Always follow
the recommended dosage.
It is suggested as well to avoid
gas producing foods, such
as beans and cabbage or even large amounts of bran because
gas tends to put pressure on the diaphragm which in turn irritates
the asthma condition. Another irritant are very cold foods
and drinks that is an extreme that can make the bronchial tubes
spasm and provoke an attack.
In certain foods such as egg yolks and shellfish the fats
contain arachidonic acid that is believed to stimulate inflammation.
Eating less of such foods may help alleviate symptoms. In line
with this it is thought that Omega 3 fatty acids help to control
and counteract this acid and so making a point of using this
healthful fat can be a beneficial replacement.
And as a general rule it is recommended that one eat lighter
meals as a large meal can again put pressure on the diaphragm
and contribute to shortness of breath.
These are a few suggestions of what others have found helpful.
But each case is unique and may not be suited to following
them. As always, it is important to follow good guidelines
and seek the advice of someone in a professional and responsible
health position before proceeding.
