There are times when we feel immersed in a world full of chaos and total pandemonium, right? More often than not, these feelings of being bothered and burdened by the mess and disturbances brought about by our surroundings can make us stressed out and lead us to be unproductive and stagnant in our work life, home life, personal relationships, etc.
One way to prevent ourselves from suffering the detrimental effects of stress is to make optimism a part of our attitude. What is optimism? Well, you can always look its meaning up in the dictionary but in a nutshell, optimism is an attitude which "keeps you going when you really want to quit." Optimism also goes hand in hand with will and determination.
Consider this: you want to be rich, but you just got fired from your current job. You try to apply for a new job with different companies but you end up getting rejected.
In this situation, optimism might not be enough to get you through. You need to have determination and the will to go on, so as to fuel your optimism and fulfill your aim of being rich! By looking at things optimistically, you can always tell yourself that it doesn’t matter if you keep on being rejected from other companies, you can always try again and there are still other options, such as starting your own business, working at home, etc.
Another thing about optimism - you also have to pair it with sense. Have you ever met people who seem to have their heads up in the air because what they are trying to achieve is totally impossible? When you practice optimism, make sure that your goal makes sense and you have to base it in reality.
By doing so, you can be assured that more or less, by hard work and sincere effort, you can achieve your goal. Always remember that optimism is useless if you use it for far-off dreams, like you waking up to find that you have grown angel wings overnight.
Generally, optimism can really be a source of great inspiration and enlightenment. It is a way for people to boost their inner strength when they feel like completely giving up. Throughout the years, optimism has been responsible for the success of a lot of people who never expected that they could achieve their goals, but still were determined enough to do so. Some would even say that optimism is a trait which helped them to keep their sanity during times when they thought they were really on the verge of going to the lunatic asylum because of their problems!
Being optimistic is a wonderful trait to have. Not only can it benefit you, but it can also make you an instrument of inspiration to others as well. Just remember to know the limits of your optimism so that you don’t end up believing in nothing. That is, nothing in the realm of reality.
