End
Your Addiction & Stop The Self Hatred
A natural reaction to ones addiction is self
hatred. Blaming yourself for being what is considered a failure.
This can carry over into all aspects of your life and is very
unhealthy. Continuing to beat yourself up over your mistake
can make recovery almost impossible.
If
an addict becomes depressed, the first instinct is to self
medicate with whatever substance got them there in the first
place. Familiar ground seems to be the only safe haven. Then
in one weak moment the addict is back in the pit in which they
fought so hard to climb out of.
Recognizing
the addiction and admitting to yourself is the first step
in lifelong recovery. The first instinct is to deny
the problem exists and therefore ignoring any possible solution.
Facing up is the first step in forgiving yourself and being
able to look in the mirror and like what you see.
You
may stumble along the way. But that is no excuse not to get
right back on the path to sobriety. Do not let a slip up
turn into a binge. Remember, we are human and we make mistakes.
You are just as good of a person as the next. Respect yourself,
talk to others who understand. The only ones that want to see
you fail are the ones that can’t get out themselves.
Always remember that while growing up, your intent was never
to get in this situation. Something happened along the way
that caused you to stray. It may have been your fault or it
may not have. That really does not matter at this point. To
continue to dwell on the past will only make things worse.
Think of the future and what you have inside you and what you
can offer.
Stay on the path…Stay focused…Welcome back.
